Glazeley Embroidery Sampler

Thank you so much to David & George Poyner for putting the Victorian embroidery sampler from Glazeley Village Hall onto our wall. The sampler was worked by girls from Glazeley School, and runs from 1833 to 1869. Many of the surnames on the sampler are still very popular local names. Why not pop in and have a look?

A Letter Of Thanks

To The Editor,

We would like to thank everyone who supported our annual BBQ and village fete on Saturday 31st August at Rays Farm to raise funds for St Mary’s Church, Billingsley. The event was a huge success, raising over £2000 for the Church, and a great night was had by all. Specific thanks go to the Cartwright family and all the staff at Rays Farm for generously providing this wonderful venue, and to Harry Scriven and family for the delicious sausages and burgers! Thanks also to The Highley Colliery Band for providing an enjoyable evening’s entertainment and to everyone who donated items for sale, helped out on the night, or came along to join in the fun!!

Next years BBQ has been set for Saturday 30th August 2014, so please pop this date in your diary – it’s sure to be a great night!

Thanks again,

Zoe Baggott and Rebecca Hadley
